So a little while ago some friends and I were enjoying a nice summer BBQ when someone brought up their opinion on public school, and how they think people would be better off if boys and girls attended separate schools. That really got me thinking!
He brought up that a huge source of distraction and misbehaviour would be completely removed if boys and girls went to separate schools. Boys and girls wouldn't have to spend so much school time chasing after one another, ogling one another, and sneaking off to do... other things. Additionally boys who try to impress girls by being rude to other students because they're "cool guys" would be completely cut out during school. More time would be focused on getting a proper education.
A friend of mine replied with the fact that this could potentially wreck kids who are trying to learn how to become functioning members of society. If you can't let young men and women be around each other and learn from one another, how can you expect them to interact when they get into the workplace? What about a date situation? If young men and women can't interact, how can they learn to properly interact in a romantic setting?
So what do you think? Should schools be co-ed or should we put boys and girls in different schools? I'm interested to see what other arguments you can come up with below!
